Guest guest
Eric posted Swami Sivananda's words on Japa: Japa is the best of all spiritual practices in this modern age. It is the easiest too. The divine name alone will give you all success and bestow on you the highest spiritual attainments. The seeker after truth reaches the highest goal by japa or recitation of the Lord's name (or mantra) alone... Ultimately the ordinary self- consciousness is elevated into a transcendental experience, into a state of superconsciousness. ....Spiritual life needs harmony in all parts of your being. Spiritual truth can only be realised when the whole being is perfectly at ease and in tune with the divine. Mantra (the name of God) has the power to release cosmic and supracosmic consciousness. It bestows illumination, freedom, supreme peace, eternal bliss and immortality. Dear Eric ~ thank you very much for posting this. Yesterday I was asking about how to get a Guru Mantra from Maa and Swamiji, which I still long for very much. Yet, every now and then I am reminded of japa. For japa, does one use the name of one's ishta devata? I seem to be equally drawn to Shiva and to Ram. I think I am drawn to Ram because he took human form as Ram. Okay, wait a minute. Was it Shiva who took human form as Ram? The series on the Ramayana that was done by Anand Sugaar, and later released as a collection of about 33 videos, was just incredible. Someday I will still have a copy so I can watch it all. When I stayed with my sister, she had some of the episodes, and we would watch a bit before doing spiritual practice together. And somehow, Ram became very much imprinted upon my consciousness. Anyway, thank you for again bringing japa to the forefront of my mind because, even with my illnesses, this is a practice I can surely embrace, regardless of what is going on or how I am feeling.
