Guest guest
Greetings, I am new to Kundalini Yoga as well as this group. Over the past two months I have been using the _Kundalini Yoga for Beginners_ DVD set by Nivair Singh. My approach has been to do one session a day and work through each of the twelve lessons. After completing one gcircuith of the twelve lessons, I start over at lesson one and work my way through the twelve lessons again. I have noticed some subtle, but profound changes in my body and was curious as to why I am experiencing some of these things. For example, I have noticed a tingling sensation that manifests in different places along and around my spine. Some days they are lower on the spine, some days in the middle of my back, while at other times they appear in between and around my shoulders. Is this an indication of a gKundalini awakening?h I have also noticed that coffee and alcohol seem to affect my body differently than before. For example, if I drink alcohol, a much smaller amount than what I would previously drink, produces a feeling of intoxication. I used to also drink large amounts of coffee with little noticeable affect. However, now if a drink only a couple of moderate size cups of coffee it seems to almost over stimulate me and producing a feeling of near anxiety. Are these perceived changes only perceptual (e.g. gonly in my headh)? Are they the result of biochemical changes or heightened body-awareness produced by Yoga? I appreciate any comments, feedback or insight from experienced Kundalini practitioners. Guest guest
Dear Isper: The tingling sensations you experience are part of the experience of energy moving in you body. This happens whether people do Kundalini Yoga or not. But now you are paying more attention to your body and so you feel it. Kundalini Yoga makes you more aware. Now what you feel is also the result of the Kundalini exercises you are doing. "Kundalini Awakening" is a whole process and what you are experiencing is a very small but important part in it. Just keep allowing the sensations you feel and breathe! As far as your alcohol and coffee experience, they are real. Kundalini Yoga cleanses you system and raises your vibration and your awareness. Any amount of alcohol will lower your vibration and will give you the experience you have. Your system is now able to feel what coffee does more quickly as well. This is all great! Continue the good work. I know people who have been doing Iyengar yoga for decades and still drink wine. Kundalini Yoga is powerful! Guest guest
Dear Awtar S, Thank you for your reply and reassurance. It is comforting to know that I am on a beneficial course. I find it truly fascinating that not only is Kundalini Yoga helping me become more aware of natural processes in my body, but also that I have not been aware of them before.
