To get there, I suggest we start with modest but ambitious goals, goals somewhat beyond us, achieve them, and then go on to the next ones. Krsna will help us, for sure. Hare Krsna. Guest guest
His Grace Jayadvaita Swami speaks from decades of experience. Smashing commercial success for BTG? It's possible, but at what cost to integrity? Is BTG as compromised as Hinduism Today? No. As compromised as India Currents? No. Both have excellent circulation, but one caters to all possible facets of being Hindu and the other is available free because of 80 percent advertising. Can BTG be a commercial success? It already is from one viewpoint. Can BTG compromise the original integrity of Srila Prabhupada's magazine to attain a larger audience? Easily. Should they? No. What are we left with then? A greatly reduced target market. The problem we face is not so much a problem as a fact. The fact is that there are not many rs within the mass audience that like to read magazines with BTG's original intent. It's not the magazine that is lacking; it's the money it takes to market a magazine with BTG's original intent still intact. My hat is off to all the editors and workers who have helped BTG over the past thirty years. It is an almost impossible task to walk the fine line of maintaining the original integrity and intent while trying to appeal to a mass audience. Follow Jayadvaita Swami's sage advice.
