Guest guest
I don't know about Vegemite and the other two you mention (although I am wary of any thing with "spices" listed as an ingredient; despite many devotees' assurances, garlic and onions do _not_ have to be listed on the label) -- but, there is a product available in the U.S., and perhaps Europe, that is every bit as good as Vegemite or Marmite and has only one ingredient: yeast extract. It's called Vegex. It is distributed by the Vegex Company, a division of Presco Food Products,Inc. Flemington, New Jersey 08822. Check your health food stores, or have someone bring a care package from the States. Hope this helps. ys, Tulasi-priya dasi p.s. Re the above-mentioned garlic and onion issue: a product called Fakin' Bacon (also known as Smoky Tempeh Strips, by LightLife) has been certified bona fide to me by devotees, based on the "if it has onions and garlic they have to put it on the label" argument. I called the company and they set me straight. Don't take other devotees' word on these things. And when you call a company to ask about ingredients, make it sound as if there's some horrible fatal allergy at stake; those guys don't want a lawsuit on their hands, so they'll tell the truth. Better yet, make your own. I have a recipe.
