AW: need advise on abby fine reader recognition of diacritics.

Dear Madhava Maharaja,

 

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

 

I have Fine Reader 4, and the process in this version is go to

Tools\Language Editor. Choose new language, then you should go into a window

called Language Properties. Name your new language and then just beneath

that bod is a box called Code Page. Click on the arrow next to it, and

choose Latin.

 

You then have to manually select all the characters you want from a fairly

large selection. But you will find that all the letters we need are there.

Then you have to go into Tools\Options\Fonts and make all the fonts Balaram.

 

Then when you recognize a scanned page, you have to make sure that the

language you created is active.

 

I hope this helps. Frankly I have found the programme has a hard time

recognizing diacritics other than the line over a i u etc.
