Guest guest
Now I found a temporary solution by modifying Windows 98. Do the following to apply the patch: - Download W98FONFX.ZIP from "Windows" (it contains CP_1252.NLS and GDIFONFX.EXE, and its size is 3900 bytes). - Restart Windows in MS-DOS mode. - Go to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM. - Make a backup copy of GDI.EXE and CP_1252.NLS (e.g. copy them to C:\WINDOWS\SYSBCKUP). - Unzip W98FONFX.ZIP in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM and let it overwrite the existing CP_1252.NLS. - Run GDIFONFX.EXE. If it says "GDI.EXE done" then it was successful. Otherwise you have a different GDI.EXE than I. (If you are a hacker you can patch it yourself by searching for the first occurrence of AC 20 81 00 and replace this with 80 00 81 00). - Delete GDIFONFX.EXE. - Restart Windows. The modified CP_1252.NLS is for Winword 97 (and later) and WordPad 98 (and later). The modified GDI.EXE is for NotePad and Winword 95 (and earlier). Note that after you applied this patch the Euro symbol is no longer there. Due to a bug in WordPad 98 the lotus will not work in WordPad 98.
