I did research and found out that the names of the yugas are related to the names of the faces of the dice. Kali refers to a dice with one on it, dvapara refers to the dice with two on it, treta refers to the dice with three on it, and krta (the usual name in the vedas for what we usually call satya yuga) refers to the dice with four on it. These yugas are always in that order and this is further confirmed by the numbering. In vedic terminology sometimes things are listed from the top down and sometimes from the bottom up. It is not a quirk that the order manifested from the last to the first, it is simply another way of looking at the situation. I hope this helps. Hope you are well and happy.
