What Krsna means is that one should do the duty which is designated

according to the varnasrama system. If one is a brahmana, he should

only do brahminical duties (unless there is some emergency) for doing

other's duties is not good for one's psycho-physical existence and can

cause disturbances in the society. Therefore, even though a brahmana

could, for example, manage something better than a ksatriya due to his

being more intelligent, he should not do so as this is not the best

thing for him. Or another example from the Bhagavatam: When the

sages did not interfere with the disturbances in society created

because there was no King, they said that they did not interfere

because it was not their business as sages to do political works or

protection as a ksatriya would do.

So the conclusion is that one should only do those works which are

designated as his works due to his social position within the varnas

and should avoid doing other's works as they are meant for other

persons with different make-ups.
