This is an interesting question. Yes, it is true that everything is

based on Krsna as Krsna is the cause of all causes. One who knows

that everything is resting on the Lord, actually knows what is what.

However, there are some who do not know this fact. They think that

things are resting on the material nature or on themselves or some

other great persons or even the demigods. They are not aware that

Krsna is the cause of all causes and that everything emanates from Him

and rests in Him. Therefore, whatever forms of existence are created

by them, such as the technology or cities or societies and so on

(there are practically an infinite variety of material forms) are

disconnected from Krsna due to their materialistic consciousness and

therefore, being artificially separated from Krsna, it is called maya.
