All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Here's the resolution: If you (as a male devotee) want to be a serious devotee, then you have to be either a truly renounced brahamacari or sannyasi, or a responsible grhastha (which often includes at some point vanaprastha). Otherwise you are outcaste. As it is said, the path is a razor's edge. ys dd At 09:52 AM 02/04/2000 -0800, you wrote: >[Text 2987492 from COM] > >Hare Krishna, PAMHO, AGTSP! > > > >Here are the two quotes from the book "Second Chance". > >"Family responsibility is very great; therefore if a man feels he cannot >accept the responsibility, he should remain a brahmacary, a celibate >student." > >"All genuine goswamis are also vairagis, renunciants. Guest guest
Exact reference i do not recall but if its useful i do remember the context - Lord Caitanya was asked by one of His dear associates what the symptom was of one who is sincere on the path of bhakti, and He responded that the first symptom is 'asat sanga tyaagaat' - abandoning the association of the nondevotees. can anyone confirm this? or is there another reference closer to the mark? Can anyone tell me where that Cc verse is where Lord Caitanya says that a devotee is one who avoids the association of materialists? ys rvd
