Guest guest
Who is here? (Japanese tale) In Japan a disciple of zen bouddhism wanted one day to see his master and talk to him. So he went to his house and knocked on his door. - Who is here? asked the master - Rinzo. - Go away! shouted the master in a violent way, insulting his disciple at the same time. Rinzo went away, not understanding a thing, and came back a few hours later. One again he knocked on the door of the master's house, but in a more timid way. - Who is here? asked the master. - Rinzo... - Just go away! And the master added a few insulting and derogatory remarks. Rinzo went away, very sad and bewildered. He spend the entire night suffering and reflecting. The next day, his eyes all puffed up and feeling very unsure of himself, he went to knock at his master's door for the third time. - Who is here? - Nobody....., answered the disciple very softly. - Ah, Rinzo! answered the master. Push the door and come in! The monkey and the knife (sufi tale) A frenzied man rushes to a nearby derviche, forces the door open and shouts: - Hurry up! Hurry up! We have to do something very quickly! A monkey just picked up a knife! - Don't worry, replied the derviche. As long as it's not a man... The mirror in the desert (persian tale) A man who was very, very ugly was walking across the desert. He sees something shining in the sand, bends down and picks it up. It is the first time he has ever seen a mirror. So he looks at it and exclaims: - How ugly! No wonder they threw it anywhere! Then he throws the mirror away and keeps on walking.
