Mosquito net

Anyone who has had experience with mosquitos in India will relate to this:

One day Ava, Sri and myself were sitting in the late summer Bombay heat

swatting mosquitos, when I remarked that I use a mosquito net at night to

keep the mosquito's from feasting on me while I sleep.

"Are yaar (Oh friend!)!" replied Sri. "Don't you know that when you put up a

mosquito net, the mosquitos know exactly what you trying to do. Therefore

they fly towards the net from a distance, and make their bodies pointed, so

when they reach the net, they are like speeding projectiles. They become

smaller than the holes from the speed and easily penetrate the net. Then

when they are inside, they feast like anything since they can't get out

again."

"Therefore," continued Sri triumphantly, "I only hang one side of my

mosquito net up, so when they fly through, they get confused and leave me

alone."

"Are Baaba!" replied Ava, "that's no use. After some time they will figure

out what happened and they will feast on you like anything. What I do is

even more better. I hang my mosquito net on one side of the room, and I

sleep on the other side so that when they fly in, they get trapped inside

the net and leave me alone ..."
