Suggestions for Sikka-watching:

1) Attend mangal arati at your nearby ISKCON temple. Serious Sikkas can be

found at the temple during the early morning functions.

2) Stand in the back of the temple room. If you're in the front you won't have

a very good view, unless of course there is a wild kirtan, in which case you

will see spinning Sikkas.

3) Don't disturb the Sikkas. Sikkas can be very elusive, so follow the four

regulative principles carefully and abandon all materialistic pursuits or the

Sikkas will go away. In due course of time, you may even get your own personal

Sikka.

4) Feed the Sikkas only Krishna prasadam. If you try to feed them anything

else, the other hair will grow out and they'll disappear.

5) If you find yourself separated from the Sikkas you've been watching, don't

worry. Just the Hare Krishna mantra with love and devotion and they'll show up

again in no time.

6) Find the Head Sikka. Usually Sikkas have a leader. Sometimes the leader is

found on the head of the temple president. If you follow the Head Sikka

around, you will undoubtedly come across other Sikkas. You might even meet an

Initiating Sikka.

7) Make sure the Sikkas have access to a comb, a set of clippers, a clean

razor and soap or shampoo. If you provide the proper care, Sikkas will last

for a long time.

8) Avoid mundane music and frivolous talks, also known as prajalpa. Otherwise,

Premature Sikka Loss will result.

Sikka-watching is a very demanding activity. Not everyone can meet the

requirements. However, because of the compassionate nature of the heads on

which they reside, Sikkas are known to deliberately mix with the most degraded

and materialistic of people in order to give them Krishna consciousness. Many

of these people won't immediately understand their good fortune in coming into

such close contact with Sikkas. Before long, however, they will also become

avid Sikka-watchers and, sooner or later, they will chant Hare Krishna and

have Sikkas of their own.
