"Following error occurred while opening the cabinet: Error reading the

database."

 

WinCOM gives this error message only if there is bad sector on the hard

disk. So running SCANDISK (or a similar program) is the only remedy.

No, don't do that. Just run SCANDISK and then in WinCOM "File"/"Repair the

Filing Cabinet". In this way you will loose only a few texts.

I think you are right, not bad sectors, but cross-linked clusters. I ran

scandisk and now it is ok.
