I think there has been some confusion, since there are two kinds of donations that have been asked, one for new members, and one for present members. That may have been confusing to some devotees. $30 or more donation is the "entrance fee" to be paid to the BBT by those who are not yet a COM member, and want to join. That may be considered much in third world countries, but actually it is not much since it is a one-time payment, not a yearly fee. The other donation is for me personally, for SysOp services for one year. I wrote individually to all present members to ask them for a donation according to what they can afford. The bottom request was $3, which cannot be called very much, not even in third world countries. ys rakt

It's not the case with everyone. I didn't know there were any subscription charges, but simply a sugested donation of 3 dollars per year to the sysop so that he can afford to continue serving us (he has had to take a job outside to maintain himself and his family so that he can serve us in this way). If 3 dollars per year is really too much for anyone maybe we should ask them to apply for waivers and some of us who can afford more than 3 dollars could donate slightly more to cover them.
