But I could improve > the VEDA2ASC.EXE program so that it can also convert from Balaram to > WinCOM. VEDA2ASC.EXE already works with the Folio fonts to WinCOM. But if the WinCOM fonts mapped the diacritic characters, we could have the benefit of marked-up sanskrit in WinCOM very nicely. Snooping around, there are 6 Wincom fonts; f1, f2, f5, v1, v2 & v5. These are two groups, Fixed and Variable pitch respectively. Now the '5' fonts seem to have the cyrillic (Russian) characters in them and personally I use the '1' fonts, which I'm sure most people do. The bottom half of the character set is full of stuff I NEVER see in COM. The main diacritic characters are: code wincom folio font character font char -------------- 0228 ä a with mantissa 0233 é i with mantissa 0199 Ç S with acute accent 0213 Õ s with acute accent 0241 ñ s with underdot 0229 å r with underdot 0235 ë n with underdot Obviously there are some more like 'm with overdot', 'n with tilde' etc. but what I am trying to say is that I ONLY ever see the 'wincom font char's' as above when some devotee quotes from Folio and the diacritics map the wrong chars! So how about it, Ramakanta Prabhu, you know it makes sense... Your servant, Vraja Kumara das
