The attempt to make family life smooth and comfortable takes up most of the

time and energy of most householders, yet is nevertheless rarely achieved. The

minuscule joys of family life are earned with many difficulties, that increase

as more children are born. To maintain a wife and family is not easy. In

Kali-yuga a man who can simply maintain a wife and a family is considered to be

a highly successful person. If the wife is demanding, or not very compatible

with the husband, the suffering increases more and more without respite.
