Guest guest
Prabhu, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I felt you were very heavy handed when you said: > Srila Prabhpada says that a cold shower is just common sense and > good hygiene. Nowhere does he mention stri-sangha! and > That is just mental speculation. Warm bath has nothing to do with > stri-sangha and a cold one is for health reasons only, as per the quote > below. (Deity worship book compiled by Srila Prabhupada's followers was quoted.) Nayana-ranjana Prabhu had quoted Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur >> As per BSST, for brahmacaries unnecessary bodily comfort is stri-sanga. It is reasonable to argue that hot showers are unnecessary bodily comfort, therefore based on this statement from Srila Prabhupada's guru, it is reasonable to say that hot showers are equal to stri-sanga. On the other hand, you have not produced a single quote where Srila Prabhupada says that was the principal reason for Srila Prabhupada recommend cold showers over hot ones is because cold shower increases ojus, or virya, and is good for your health. It seems that you are the one who is mentally speculating. How can you claim to know what Srila Prabhupada's principal reason for recommending cold baths is, when he has not explicitly said so, (or at least you can not produce any reference to such a quote). Are you a mind reader? I apologize for being blunt with you. The issue of cold/hot showers is not important to me. What is important is maintaining respectful relationships between devotees. I hope you get a sense of what it feels like to be called a mental speculator. In ISKCON that is a great insult. I think an apology to Nayana-ranjana Prabhu may be in order. Whether you apologize to Nayana-ranjana Prabhu or don't apologize to Nayana-ranjana Prabhu, in future, you should be more careful how you relate to devotees. Rather than saying someone is a mental speculator, (name-calling), you could easily make the same point in a more pleasant tone by saying, "When you said ....(hot showers are stri sanga) I have a different understanding. The way I understand it is... (that the main reason for cold showers is health.)" Can you notice the difference in the tone? May Krsna bless you as your communication and relationships with devotees continues to get better and better. Your servant, Krsnendu das
