In a catholic boarding school

The scene takes place in a catholic boarding school: Mother Superior is

talking to Madeleine, a young teen age girl who had received all her

education in this catholic school. The Mother Superior asks Madeleine in a

kind tone: "So, my dear Madeleine, you just have one more year to spend with

us, and then you'll be in the world out there. What do you want do do with

your life?". Madeleine refects for a few minutes and answers without

hesitation :"I want to be a prostitute.". When she hears this , Mother

Superior cannot believe her ears, she collapses on a chair, totally amazed

and confused; then some anger starts to manifest " Madeleine, I cannot

believe what you just said, after all the years of fine catholic education

that the sisters imparted to you. You seemed to be so attached to the words

of our saviour Lord Jesus Christ. I do not understand, it must be the work

of the devil, or this village girl working in the kitchen that put these

crazy ideas in your head. ....Maybe I've not heard properly what you said.

Tell me again what you want to do in the future...Let's hear it!"

Madeleine replies slowly, stressing each syllable " When I leave the

boarding school, I want to be a pros-ti-tu-te !"

This time Mother Superior has heard it very clearly, and she answers in a

relieved tone "My dear God, I feel relieved from what you just said, I did

not understand you properly the first time, I thought you wanted to become a

protestant!"
