Guest guest
Why did Vrishabhanu allow Radharani to marry Abhimanyu? by Victor D DiCara (Vraja Kishor das) This question would be very difficult, if not impossible to answer if wedded romance (svakiya) were more desirable to Krishna and the gopis than unwedded romance (parakiya). This is not the case, however, because unwedded romantic love completes the progression from shuddha-rati through dasya, sakhya, vatsalya, and madhurya - a progression of love intensifying and progressively becoming stronger than formalities. Vrishabhanu wants the very best for his daughter Radha, and for Krishna. Therefore deep down inside, below his conscious thoughts (for if it were conscious it may be a cause of rasabhasa), in his subconscious mind Vrishabhanu, like every other resident of Vrindaban, wants Radha and Krishna to enjoy the best: parakiya-rasa, unwedded romantic love. He therefore facilitates this by marrying Radha to Abhimanyu. However, what is this "marriage?" In the pastimes unfolding in the spiritual sky, there is no such marriage. Radha's relationship to Abhimanyu is a conception only. It is simply a concept accepted by everyone that Radha is married to someone named Abhimanyu, but no such marriage ever takes place, and no such man even exists. In the pastimes that manifest here in this world, such concepts take actual form. Thus in the lila that manifests here there is indeed a man named Abhimanyu, and there is an actual marriage between him and Sri Radha. However, this marriage occurs during the year in which all the cowherd boys were held captive by Lord Brahma in a cave. How then could Radha have married Abhimanyu? Krishna expanded himself to replicate all the cowherd boys, and the marriage between "Abhimanyu" and Radha, as well as the marriages of all Krishna's gopis, took place during this year.
