" Mahaprabhu Never Cuts Throat, He Gives Harinam"

 

Commentary by His Divine Grace Srila Gour Govinda Swami

 

"The most munificent Supreme Personality of Godhead known as Gaura Krsna,

distributed to everyone even the lowest of men His own confidential treasure

in the form of the netar of love for Himself in the holy name. This was

never given to the people at anytime before. I therefore offer my respectful

obeisences unto him!"

 

Never given in any incarnation or any age, this krsna-prema is a hidden

treasure. Gupta-vitam, 'Krsna's hidden treasure'. He had not given it uptill

now in Gaura avatar that treasure house, the doors of this treasury house

are bolted but now broke open and distributed, indisriminately. Bhukti,

mukti, vibaso... They can not have it, materialistic persons running after

sensual enjoyment, persons running after liberation, yogis running after

yoga-siddhis. They can not have it. Cannot have prema. This is mahavadanya

Gouranga, most munificent incarnation Gauranga distributed it

indiscriminately to one and all. Never disriminates if one deserves it or

doesn't deserve it. If one is qualified or unqualified. Whether this is the

proper place to distribute or not. This time is a suitable time or not. No

such discrimination. He distributed this krsna-prema to one and all. This is

His wonderfully merciful pastime. Mahadoya, supreme mercy.

 

The name is in every yuga. The name is there in shastra, sruti sastra,

the glories of the name are there. The name can give you mukti, liberation

and forfill your desires. This is all mentioned in the sruti sastras. But

this Kali yuga is special Kali yuga. Gauranga only comes in this Kali yuga.

It is not distributed in any other yuga, Satya, Treta, Darupa or Kali except

this Kali. Mahaprabhu appeared in this Kali yuga, special Kali yuga in the

form of Gauranga Mahaprabhu chanting Hare Krsna Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna Hare

Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare. This name is non-different

from Himself and He Himself relished that mellow nectarean taste emanating

from the holy name and He distributed it. He Himself relished it and

distributed it.

 

Nobody gives this thing only Krsna can give when He comes in the form of

Mahaprabhu. He gives this krsna-prema through the chanting of Hare Krsna

Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare.

This is the chanting of premanama sankirtan, not ordinary name. The name

that gives prema is premanama sankirtan, pure name. Therefore He is known as

mahavadanya, most munificent incarnation. Mahavadnaya prema-data; the giver

of krsna-prema. Premanamamrta; the nectar emanating from His own name. He is

distributing His mahadoya, great supreme mercy. No one can think it up.

 

emana gouranga bina nahi ara

 

hena avatara, habe ki hoyeche,

 

hena prema parachar

 

This is Gouranga Mahaprabhu. Such an incarnation will never be there

again. In the past there was no such incarnation and in the future there

will be no such incarnation. Such prema. The distribution of prema was not

there in the past and will never be there again in the future also.

 

Most wicked, most sinful, patita, pasandis, most degraded, most fallen,

durmati; evil minded persons, rascals. Mahaprabhu is so merciful,

wonderfully merciful that he never cuts throat. Krsna cuts throat but

Mahaprabhu never cuts the throat, rather He gave them this holy name. That

is His weapon. He killed the demoniac propensities in the heart. Such a

merciful incarnation, going to every door step. He sent Nityananda Prabhu

and Gouranga Mahaprabhu. To every door step He sent them and said; "Go and

give this harinam, distribute to the most sinful persons. Patita pavana.

Most degraded like Jagai and Madai, they got it. They got such mercy. Tabe

saci dekhila, rama-krsna-dui bhai, tabe nistarila prabhu jagai-madhai.

 

"Thereafter mother Saci saw the the two brothers Krsna and Balaram in their

manifestation of Lord Caitanya and Nityananda. Then the Lord delivered the

two brothers Jagai and Madhai." (C.c. Adi 17.17) This is the merciful lila

of prema purusottama, Gaurahari. (16.3.95)
