Look at it this way, each Sthayi Bhav contains the essential elements of the

ones that came before it, plus it's own distinctive element.

 

The distinctive element of Shanta Rati (Shuddha Rati is the real term, I

believe)

is Purity or freedom from selfish desire.

 

Dasya Rati also contains purity, but it adds the distinctive element of active

interaction with the Supreme.

 

Sakhya Rati also contains purity and active relationship with the supreme, but

it adds the distinctive element of relaxed intimacy with Krishna.

 

Vatsalya Rati also contains purity, active relationship, and relaxed intimacy,

but it adds the distinctive element of protectiveness and compassion towards

Krishna.

 

Sringar Rati also contains purity, active relationship, relaxed intimacy, and

protectiveness towards Krishna, but it adds the distinctive element of romance.

 

In Braj Dham there is nothing but Parakiya Sringar Ras. It is wonderfully

saturated

with that ujjvalla, and there is nothing else in any resident.

 

However, since this highest Parakiya Ujjvala Rasa contains all the elements of

the lower rasas, some of the residents in Braj in Parakiya rasa can act within

the capacity of other rasas.

 

Though in Parakiya Bhav, Nanda, Yasoda, Rohini, Upananda, etc. act in the

capacity

of Vatsalya rati.

 

Though in Parakiya Bhav, Subal, Sridam, etc. act in the capacity of Sakhya

Rati.

 

Though in Parakiya Bhav, Raktak, etc. act in the capacity of Dasya Rati.

 

Though in Parakiya Bhav, the birds, trees, grass, etc, act in the capacity of

Shuddha (shanta) rati.

 

They are all in parakiya ujjvala rasa because they all use their particular

positions

and relationships to facilitiate the parakiya lila of Sri Radha-Krishna. But

from an equally valid angle one can also say that they are in the particular

rasa that they act in.

 

One should understand both angles.

 

Swamiji and Bhaktisiddhanta said nothing wrong in this regard.
