This is not a fact. Srila Rupa Goswami quotes the verse s/ruti-smr/ti-pura/n/a/di-pan/cara/tra-vidhih/ vina/ aika/ntika/ harer bhaktir utpa/ta/yaiva kalpate from the Brahma-ya/mala. The Brahma-ya/mala is a s/akta work -- yet the gaudiya acaryas, beginning with Srila Rupa Goswami, quote from it. It is the prerogative of an acarya to establish the truth and he may sometimes quote from any source -- even some otherwise beside, if not opposed, to his own sampradaya's siddhantha. This is the principle of "picking up gold even from a dirty place, a good wife even from a low family, etc"... speaking of which, Prabhupada quotes this and many other verses from Canakya Pandit -- who isn't even recognised as a vaisnava. This principle of quoting points supporting one's sampradaya's siddhantha from sources not necessarily in it is explicitly indicated in a sri vaisnava work named Yati/ndramathadi/pika/ (Light on the Philosophy of Ramaunja) by a respected member of that sampradaya, one Srinivas.
