here's a prabhupada story. I personally heard this tape on RDTSKP. Whenever

any brahmacari was 'thinking' of getting married they would troupe him in

front of tripurari Maharaja (the leader of btbd party St. Louis). who would

play a small tape (now lost I think).

It was so famous on this party I could not forget this tape. I am recalling

it appoximately 98%, as below.

I hope the Archives people will find this tape later on.

room conversation in L.A.

Prabhupada: So Vishala prabhu when are you going to India?

Vishala: I think I'd like to go in May.

Prabhupada: Very good.

Vishala: I've been thinking lately..

Prabhupada: Oh don't do that..

Vishala: I was thinking that I should get married. (etc)

Prabhupada: I tell you you won't be happy.

Vishala: well, I think I'll be better situated, and content. (etc etc)

Prabhupada: I tell you you won't be happy.

Vishala: suppose, I *did* get married, srila Prabhupada, would I still get

your mercy?

Prabhupada (voice strained): My mercy is 'you don't get married!'

I remember how strained Prabhupada's voice was on this tape, He clearly

wanted to save this disciple from so much trouble.

yet, this disciple got married anyway, and yes as history shows really had a

tough time of it.

I personally heard Prabhupada in Atlanta 1975 on dissappearance festival of

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta at a Brahmacari darshan, told us all:

"My guru maharaja very much liked this Brahmacari life, you can sleep

anywhere, but if you get married, then you have to get appartment and

'so-much-trouble'

(my jaw dropped, 'he wants to save us' I thought)

he paused 10-15 seconds for it to sink in our brains.

"so their will be trouble, the senses will demand, so you preach! (he

pointed his finger at us) "and pray to Krsna!' (he put his hand in Varadha

mudra blessing us) " and Krsna... Krsna can make this itching sensation go

away"

again he paused 10-15 seconds for it to sink in our brains.

he again said." you preach! (he pointed his finger at us) "and pray to

Krsna!' (he put his hand in Varadha mudra blessing us.. still more insistent

this time) " and Krsna... Krsna can make this itching sensation go away"

'

"but if it does not go away, then like them you can take..." He gestured to

the 3 householders standing in the back. (Aja and Gaddi dasa were two of

them--- both of them also went through hard times in household life).

"But *my guru maharaja* very much liked this Brahmacari life!"

I was so happy by seeing his determination. That was so convincing, it was

so breif, but I had no questions. the instruction was crystal clear..

so I was there among 80 or so men, and I was convinced by that 10 minute

darshan. although the rest got married anyway.

hope it helps,
