But I'd be > interested to know if what you wrote is correct. What I wrote is what I heard oh so many years ago. The debauchee bit is new to me. If he was a debauchee, he would probably be a fish eater also, as only the most pious people in Bengal don't eat fish. And the social conventions in Bengal even today are so strong that even a vegetarian wife would generally be expected to cook fish for her husband if he so desired. Any other comments?
