Dear Masters, do you know the pastime of Krishna personally appearing to

Srila Prabhupada aboard the Jaladuta and massaging his heart with His hands

to allay the heart attack? I cannot find Srila Prabhupada speaking of this

in the Folio, nor is it in the Lilamrita.

The only source I know of is a lecture given by our dear Indradumya

Mahahraja in Russia. I have heard the tape. Maharaja says that this pastime

between Krishna and Srila Prabhupada was personally, and confidentially,

told by SP to Bhagatji in Vrindaban. SP told Bhagatji not to tell anyone

else, because it was so confidential and because no one other than Bhagatji

would be able to understand it. However, before passing away some years ago,

Bhagatji revealed the secret to Maharaja, who is kindly sharing it.

I do not doubt the possibility of this pastime taking place. We know that

Krishna did appear to SP on the ship at that critical juncture through a

dream, because SP spoke of this to Hari Sauri dasa. Thereafter, the miracle

of the North Atlantic being so calm that all the experienced sailors on the

ship said that they had never seen before, took place. SP was then able to

tell everyone on board that Krishna had taken charge of the ship.

If SP only told Bhagatji about being massaged by Krishna, how can we verify

it? To me, it was unusual, though not impossible, for SP to tell one single

follower a fact about himself that he did not want to be told to others. It

was also unusual for SP to single out one devotee as being the only one able

to understand a particular thing. And, if SP told Bhagatji not to tell

anyone, why did Bhagatji disobey? And, why is Maharaja continuing it? For

myself, I know that if there was something that SP did not want me to know,

I would not want to come to know about it at all. Unless, these are all

intimate loving pastimes between confidential pure devotees, something like

between Lord Chaitanya and Lord Nityannanda in Chaitanya Charitamrita, which

I am unable to understand and appreciate, because of my envious and fallen

nature. Please correct me.

The devotees in Russia fully accept that this pastime took place, because

they heard it from their guru. One Russian artist has just presented me with

a painting of this pastime. The painting is striking.

In the service of Srila Prabhupada,

Brahmananda dasa
