Mataji Kriya Shakti, disciple of Srila Prabhupada, told us how, after the yajna, several devotees were waiting out side of Srila Prabhupada's room to get their brahmana treads and gayatri mantras. One devotee went in and after a few minutes came out looking very distressed. When asked what had happen he said that Srila Prabhupada refused to give him brahmana initiation because his bead bag wasn't clean. If you're dirty ,you can't be a brahamana Srila Prabhupada had said.All of the devotees waiting ,looked down at their bead bags-considering the situation. One of the devotees ,not taking any chances,took his beads out of his bag and put them around his neck and someone else ran home to get a clean bead bag.
