Guest guest
Hare Krishna, PAMHO AGTSP I may be going on a tangent here but it is in relation to the Kartamasha Deity. Mukundadatta Prabhu said: > I > don't know where all of the other Kartamahasayas went, but they > definitely aren't as common now as they used to be. I was given one of these Kartamasha Deities by Radha Damodhar prabhu. I will relate what both Radha Damodhar (ACBSP) and Nara Nayayan (ACBSP) have told me. When Radha Damodar Prabhu went to Denver where he and his wife served for many years there was one such Deity. He used to take care of it very nicely for many many years. When his first son was born he named him Kartamasha after the Deity. His son is in his mid twenties now. When RD and his family left Denver the deity was given to him because he took such good care of Him. From there It went with him to, I thnk Bhativedanta villige in Calif. He and his family eventurally ended up in Vancouver where he continued to worship this Kartamasha Deity. When he and his family again had to relocate to Alachua, Radha Damodhar prabhu was reluctant to take the Deity with him. He felt it would be a dis-service to Him as he was not in a position to properly care for him and was concerned about moving His delicate form. As I was running a preaching center at the time and RadhaDamodar liked to come there on his way to work thus he gave me the Deity. He told me that Srila Prabhupada said these deities are good to have in Preaching centers and Restaurants. He also said that there were seven original Kartamashas and this was one of them. Later Nara Narayan Prabhu came to my Asrama and saw the Deity he told me that he made a mold of Kartamasha on Srila Prabhupada's request of which he used to make lots of them. He said that this Kartamasha was one of the ones he moulded. I am not sure which story holds true and would like to know for certain if anyone can furhter relate any information. In any case I am fortunate to have one of these Kartamasha Deities. One of the annual pastimes of this Kartamasha Deity is to oversee our Janmastami festival from atop the huge birthday cake we make for Him. photos attached.
