VedaBase => Letter to: Govinda -- Madras 12 February, 1972 A quick note about these two letters: Just before the first one arrived, our next=door neighbors, who were particularly antagonistic to the devotees, cut down three of the Tulasi trees that had already grown to about seven feet. We were rather amazed at the timing, and Govinda and I felt it indicated that he sensed something had happened. After some time, the guy who cut down the Tulasis did come over to complain about a kirtan, pounding on the door and screaming. Many of the brahmacharis, encouraged by Srila Prabhupada's letter, went out, beat the beans out of him, and threw him out into the street. Several weeks later, they quietly moved out one Sunday morning, and we never heard from them again. Babhru das
