He recalled the time when Srila Prabhupada had been quarantined for several days in Kenya (I think it was Kenya-someone can confirm by checking in the Lilamrita, where this pastime is narrated). In the middle of the night, at two AM, Srila Prabhupada called, "Bhavananda! Bhavananda!" Bhavananda Prabhu came to Prabhupada's room, and Prabhupada told him, "I went outside to take a walk, but the guards of this building forbade me from going out." Bhavananda commented, "They probably don't want you to go out because they're afraid that a mosquito might bite you, and in this way it could theoretically pass on a disease that you might be having." Srila Prabhupada replied, "I am pure. I cannot contaminate anyone. They cannot understand?" Prabhupada added, "I am confined. I've never liked being confined. This is a nice building, but I am like a bird in a golden cage. If they do not allow me to take my morning walk, I will lose my appetite. If I lose my appetite, I will no eat. And if I don't eat, I will die!" Then Prabhupada ordered Bhavananda, "DO SOMETHING!" A little later, Bhavananda Prabhu recalled how, on another occasion, he asked Srila Prabhupada what was his favorite scent, and Prabhupada replied, "Rose, and also sandlewood."
