The sacred fire burns 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. How did we start the fire? In the traditional vedic way - with the use of two pieces of wood and a rope. A few of us were lucky to be there to watch the the fire and the start of the yajna. Now you can watch it too. Please see http://www.shreemaa.org/drupal/node/105 Dear Nanda ~ thank you so much for letting us know about this. Alas, my laptop I believe has too much in its poor head, and the video wouldn't load. But even just seeing the picture of the fire pit with the fire burning in it was a prasad for my aching body. I will try again tomorrow on my hubby's computer. His isn't quite a clogged up with stuff as mine is. How wonderful to be there at this sacred moment. None of us will ever forget it.
