Guest guest
Thank you everyone for being helpful regarding my questions. I have two other questions as well. Where can I purchase the Lakshmi Tantra? I am having a hard time locating a place to purchase it. I am a little overwhelmed at how much there is to learn, but also very excited. I would like to know the best way to approach understanding basic Sanskrit. Is there a book or a tape that others have found useful in their studies? I think having at least some basic understanding would allow me to take my studies to a deeper level. I am sure I can locate something on my own, but am interested to hear what helped others. I am honored to be a part of this group. The level of debate and education is truly wonderful. Mahita
Guest guest
Hi Mahita: 1. As to your first question, the Lakshmi Tantra can be purchased through several online sources: * Exotic India is very reliable and a good company to do business with. All of their prices include shipping, so no surprises: ;-) http://www.exoticindia.com/book/details/IDD592/ * If you want to purchase stateside, Froogle yields several sellers; just search "lakshmi tantra" for the latest listings: http://froogle.google.com/frghp?hl=en&tab=wf&q= .... but when you add in shipping they're not much cheaper than Exotic India (plus when you shop at Exotic India, you can always talk your self into a nice Devi painting or sculpture!) ;-) 2. As to your second question, it depends on how deep you want to go. * For just a basic grasp of letters, meanings and pronunciation so you get your mantras right, here is a good intro, complete with practice CD: "The Language Of Yoga: Complete A to Y guide to Asana Names, Sanskrit Terms, and Chants" by Nicolai Bachman http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1591792819/ * For a comprehensive learn-at-home experience in North America, you'd be hard pressed to beat the American Sanskrit Institute's study kits: http://www.americansanskrit.com/athome/sbc.html * And if you want more one-on-one instruction, the Hindu University of America offers a correspondence course that I'm told is excellent: http://www.hindu-university.edu/bass.htm Hope that gets you started! Good luck! DB , Mahita Devi <mahita_devi wrote: > > > > Thank you everyone for being helpful regarding my > questions. I have two other questions as well. Where > can I purchase the Lakshmi Tantra? Guest guest
Namaste, Just for a note (since a person may not be aware of this): Siddhashram is a good business organisation, but it has little to do with any kind of true spirituality. Guest guest
It really seems to rock. It's a great resource, but if you dis Sri Guru Dutt then they'll threaten to kill you. I will get death threats over this comment. But again a great resource. - Arjuna Taranandanatha Saturday, May 20, 2006 5:17 PM Re: 2 questions Namaste, Just for a note (since a person may not be aware of this): Siddhashram is a good business organisation, but it has little to do with any kind of true spirituality. Guest guest
arjuna why are u starting a uneccesary "false prapoganda" against a organisation with such a lofty standards.i was only telling mahita about a book written by dr.narayan dutt shrimali.i had no intention of discussing wheather it is a spiritual organisation or not. hmm my conclusion is that u must be one of those people who lack discipline and start doing big sadhanas without ground work then when u fail u start blaming the organisation or guru."the fox preached that the grapes were sour...just bcos it was out of its reach". who said it is not a spiritual organisation.siddhashram is a all rounder organisation.if u look properly u will realise that all sadhanas connected to material accomplishment were brought into light by enlightened persons out of karuna for fellow beings.so in a way you are saying lord shiva is not spiritual bcos he gave out sadhana methods to attract wealth? , "Arjuna Taranandanatha" <bhagatirtha wrote: > > Namaste, > > Just for a note (since a person may not be aware of this): > Siddhashram is a good business organisation, but it has little to do with any kind of true spirituality. > > A
Guest guest
Now hear this please. This same person called himself nikhil_das21 now accuse me of being Arjuna. Using this id to stage an attack against Siddha [whatever] org. I thought this must be some kind of joke. Yes! it is indeed a joke. Let me see maybe we should start with this : Arjuna is Nora, Nora is Devi Bhakta, Devi Bhakta is Sankara Menon, Sankara menon is actually Arjuna. How abt that? Anybody wants to add in the cycle? I have better things to do than to participate in such charade. Siddha. Org is of no interest to me at this moment. Whatever guidance I get, I get it directly from my guru. , "nikhil_das21" <nikhil_das21 wrote: > > arjuna why are u starting a uneccesary "false prapoganda" against a > organisation with such a lofty standards.i was only telling mahita > about a book written by dr.narayan dutt shrimali.i had no intention of > discussing wheather it is a spiritual organisation or not. > > hmm my conclusion is that u must be one of those people who lack > discipline and start doing big sadhanas without ground work then when > u fail u start blaming the organisation or guru."the fox preached that > the grapes were sour...just bcos it was out of its reach". > > who said it is not a spiritual organisation.siddhashram is a all > rounder organisation.if u look properly u will realise that all > sadhanas connected to material accomplishment were brought into light > by enlightened persons out of karuna for fellow beings.so in a way you > are saying lord shiva is not spiritual bcos he gave out sadhana > methods to attract wealth? > > > > , "Arjuna Taranandanatha" > <bhagatirtha@> wrote: > > > > Namaste, > > > > Just for a note (since a person may not be aware of this): > > Siddhashram is a good business organisation, but it has little to do > with any kind of true spirituality. > > > > A >

Otherwise as Lakshmi Tantra in english from MLBD is a good one (as already suggested by couple of other folks). If you are in US you can actually get it form your public library.
