Most breads also have mono/diglycerides which is animal fat. I believe animal derived ingredients in foods build up toxins (called Ama in Ayurveda) in the human body which eventually lead to diseases just like habitual smoking does. You might want to check out organic bread. most breads in the UK all seem to be ok, containing no animal products whatsoever. i know the US has major issues in this regard with both bread and dairy products.
