I remember one young devotee over 20 years ago named Patriraja who was

involved with research work in this area. I remember him telling me things

that really helped me understand the 5th canto descriptions from a

completely diffrent angle of vision. They had found some scholars in South

India who were also researching this subject. You might want to try and find

him.

I think his correct name is Patatriraja. Patatri=bird so Garuda the

king of the birds.
