Guest guest
May 16th, 2006, Pagan High Priestess (and fiddle-player, and singer, and songwriter, and motorcycle rider) Leigh Ann Hussey of Berkeley, California, crashed into a dump truck and died at age 44. She was a person so talented that I managed to eschew envy, and wanted to get to know her better. Leigh Ann recorded a few cassette tapes of moving (or funny, or BOTH) songs, mostly with Pagan themes. Her Celtic fiddling was awe inspiring. Her rituals inspired. I met her at Judy Harrow's apartment on Riverside Drive in the late 1980's. Judy, Leigh Ann and I sat chatting in Judy's livingroom as the skies darkened with storm clouds. Lightning flashed. Leigh Ann's eyes sparkled, and she said, "Y'know, we never get thunderstorms in the Bay area." And she ran downstairs, where soaking wet she danced a jig amidst the flashing lightning under Judy's third floor windows. Leigh Ann, you've traded up your motorcycle for a lightning bolt. When I hear thunder now, I'll see you riding in the skies. -- Len/ Kalipadma Messenger with Voice. Make PC-to-Phone Calls to the US (and 30+ countries) for 2¢/min or less. Guest guest
Thanks, Vir. I'm sad. I had fantasies of being able to sing with Leigh Ann again (we were seldom on the same coast with each other). I ought to learn some of her songs and include them in my performance set. She was terrific at almost everything she attempted. We had fallen out of touch, but I will miss her. -- Len/ Kalipadma New York City Vir Rawlley <redderred > wrote: This is a really cool tribute. Guest guest
So true Len :-) Dylan's lyrics http://www.bobdylan.com/songs/hardrain.html Time we shifted into high gear in realising our "true" selves ... so that when friends pass on through this phase, we can tune into where they are and say "Hi" Like Kali's Oddiya - by Amarananda Bhairavan or the movie "What Dreams may Come" http://colossus.net/movie-reviews/movies/w/what_dreams.html Remain strong my friend ...... :-D Len Rosenberg <kalipadma108 > wrote: Thanks, Vir. Guest guest
Well, I have "Kali's Oddiya," but haven't read it yet. I'll do so, soon. And rent "What Dreams May Come," as well. A mutual friend forwarded this link to a Website Leigh Ann created, which gives more of a taste of her skills. Re: -- sad news -- Sorry to hear about Leigh Ann's passing. Your lightning bolt/hang on comment was a beautiful tribute, Len. http://www.elfhill.com/leighann.html Bb, Rick Vir Rawlley <redderred > wrote: So true Len :-) Dylan's lyrics http://www.bobdylan.com/songs/hardrain.html Time we shifted into high gear in realising our "true" selves ... so that when friends pass on through this phase, we can tune into where they are and say "Hi" Like Kali's Oddiya - by Amarananda Bhairavan or the movie "What Dreams may Come" http://colossus.net/movie-reviews/movies/w/what_dreams.html Remain strong my friend ...... :-D Messenger with Voice.
