Guest guest
Om Krishna Guru Namaste Sarbani Ji, That was an excellent compilation of SJC Gurus with their e-mail address. As some people contact me to be their Guru, then I say I am student only and advise them to contact our SJC Gurus. So this webpage is very much useful in that case. Is it possible for you (or who ever is maintaining this list) to add the date on the native was made as SJC Guru. I am doing a small study on Drig Dasa, and this information will be very valuable data for my study. For some reasons, if it is not possible to put this data it in the website, then, can you please send me this data privately to my e- mail address. Alternatively, if you are not the person who maintains this information, then may I request you to please forward this ( my ) request to the concerned person on my behalf and let me know. Guest guest
Jaya Jaganantha Dear Raghu Namaste Just a thought, how about sending an email to all the gurus for this date, now that you have their contact details - I don't think its fair to ask SJC to provide this information as not all gurus may want to participate, because it's a personal matter. The only problem with SJC providing additional data of this nature, is that once a presidence is set, some one else doing a different research study may want other information about the gurus, so where do we draw the line. I also enjoying interrogating data and I understand the lack of data available, but I have accepted that we can only work with information in the public domain to respect the wishes of individuals - I wouldn't want SJC to distribute my information without my consent. Most credible organizations as a policy do not make personal details available otherwise they will be open to legal challenges for not maintaining confidentiality, unless the individuals expressly gave permission thereto. Guest guest
Shri Brahmadaru Smarami Dear Bipin, Thanks. I was going to draft a similar mail to Raghu. In fact he should send a common mail to all the gurus asking for their input. Those interested will write back to him. A year back a senior jyotish guru wrote an extremely nasty mail to me, saying I was 'digging up' information from our office records to find who the jyotish guru of a particular student was. Of course it was ridiculous and malicious, as it was common knowledge as to who the guru of the particular person was; the way it is commonly knowledge that Swee is your jyotish guru or Visti is Rafal's. I used a certain turn of phrase, and it was used against me. It is ridiculous because, it is no state secret nor a sacred secret as we are not diksha gurus. In fact, I was thinking that it might be a nice idea to have the list of students of SJC who have taken jyotish gurus. We used to have it in a very old web site, you know, before I joined SJC. Lets see what others feel about this. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Sarbani Namaste It is good practice for good governance that basic membership information be kept of all SJC Gurus and their students they have taken on, according to the SJC process, for SJC record purposes only, like Full name, Id numbers, Birth Data, physical address, Guru, contact details, etc. Forgive my ignorance, im sure you may already have this in place. Now together with this, I think there should be clear guidelines or house rules for Gurus and students (I read recently that this process is under evaluation). Its such a pity that one has to do all of this, but I think we have to accept that we are in the Kali Yuga and the temptation is always there for people to misuse the organization and the process. These guidelines are there to protect the organization and its members and I think necessary. As regards listing of students who have taken on Shiksha Gurus - I have no problem with this. The only one concern or challenge regarding this is, rivalry between Gurus and Students as to who has the most students, etc, etc, so if you feel this is an eventuality, rather not publish this. I cant believe im writing this, this kind of thought shouldn't even enter our minds as its disrespectful to our sacred science and to the parampara. As regards birth data, and other details - this may have to be kept confidential, unless there is a policy around this which members have given their consent. You have my support on any guidelines or processes that are implemented for good governance. Best Wishes Bipin Ps: on a private note - I enjoyed reading your article on Shukra and look forward to reading more articles of that nature. ************************************************************************************ The e-mail and attachments are confidential and intended only for selected recipients. Guest guest
vyam vyasadevaya namah Dear Sarbani, The idea of list of students can be encouraging and informative but there is danger for naive potential students to take the Guru with highest number of student and it can be little emberrasing for Guru's who doesnt have high number of student...maybe for someone its irrelevant and yes..it should be like that but this is the world of maya..of arudha.
