krsna
Paraupakara <!-- the main section of the post goes here -->Dear Prabhus and Prabhvis, Ami pranam kori. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. To make advancement in devotional service, we must invoke the Lord’s mercy. One very practical way to do this — that has been suggested to us by Srila Prabhupada — is to print and distribute books, wracking our brains how to do good for others: paraupakara. Actually it’s more than a suggestion. In fact, throughout his lectures, letters and purports, Srila Prabhupada points again and again to the importance of book distribution and in many cases, implores us to take it up. I’m looking forward to our Sankirtana Festival in Alachua. Getting together for the purpose of increasing book distribution while hearing and chanting the glories of the Lord and his pure devotees is time well invested.Directing our attention and energy towards improving the quality (and quantity) of our chanting and hearing and our book distribution will undoubtedly please the guru parampara and the Lord and will help us to make rapid advancement.Hoping this meets you well in all regards. Your servant, Vaisesika dasa Getting out is not easy. “What if it’s hard out there? What if I don’t know what to say? What if . . . ?” No, it’s not easy to get out of one’s comfort zone and the mind has millions of reasons readily available to us why we should not stray from that comfort zone. But outside the comfort zone lies the magical, transcendental Sankirtana Zone wherein one can take complete shelter of the Lord’s internal energy. In this zone one readily gets jnana and vairagya and quickly awakens one’s taste for Krsna katha. SB 1.2.16: “O twice-born sages, by serving those devotees who are completely freed from all vice, great service is done. By such service, one gains affinity for hearing the messages of Väsudeva.” Srila Prabhupada told us that by going out to preach we’d quickly be recognized by Krsna: “The Sankirtana devotees are very very dear to Krishna. Because you are doing the field work of book distribution, Krishna has immediately recognized them as true servants. Just like during war time, a farm boy or ordinary clerk who goes to fight for his country on the front, immediately becomes a national hero for his sincere effort. So Krishna immediately recognizes a preacher of Krishna consciousness who takes all risks to deliver his message.” SP letter, 11/12/75 more
