Guest guest
Dear Nanda, Devanath and list, Sometimes life is so very strange. In 2001, I left the grounds of the Maha Kumbha Mela to go to Benaras. I wound up one afternoon wandering around with two friends. We had gotten out of a skiff onto an out of the way ghat and simply began wandering through the streets. In an hour or so, we "stumbled into" a small alleyway; across the narrow street was a small house with a bronze nameplate. When we read it, we realized we had accidentally found Lahiri Mahasaya's family home . We knocked and were admitted to the inner courtyard...where there is a beautiful Shiva Lingam Temple (small) and a meditation hall, with paintings of Lahiri Mahasay and his sons and grandson's. We were fortunate enough to spend quite a while meditating there and also to have a long personal darshan with Shibendu Lahiri, the great grandson of Lahiri Mahasay and currently the head of that branch of Kriya Yoga. Just last week, when Shree Maa began the Trailanga Swami story, I thought, "why is that name so familiar"? Then I realized that I had seen his photograph at Lahiri Mahasay's home in Benaras. I checked and, sure enough, they were very deeply connected to each other. It's so strange as I had several dreams of Lahiri Mahasay just when Maa began this story. No matter how many times I am caught in these amazing interconnections, I still find them incredible. best, sadhvi
Guest guest
Hi Sadvi, Just so you know, Lahiri Mahasaya's actual home is a little up in that alley. A different relative and serious Kriyaban, who prefers to stay more quiet and out of the public eye, and who lets few people in, lives there. There is no picture or plaque that marks it, but usually a garland is there and if you look closely you will see people come and touch there heads to the big black double door. Shibendu is one of many disciples of his father, Satyacharan Lahiri, one of Lahiri Mahasaya's Grandsons. Jai Maa! Surya"<< Hi Surya, Yes I was aware of the information above and know the place you are speaking about. Actually, it was the place we went to before going to the more public space of Shibendu. I prefer not to get into the "lineage" stuff around Kriya yoga. More I was recounting a connection I thought might be of interest to people here because of Maa's story. sadhvi

Surya"<< Yes, it is a profound place! It would be such a huge blessing to be able to spend some time in Benaras. I really hope to be able to do that in the next couple of years, god willing. there are so many temples, abodes of saints and just the atmosphere that permeates the city. what a place to settle down and do Chandi practice! Were you there with Shree Maa and Swamiji? that must have been quite a life-altering experience, to be in that city, in such company! But, meanwhile, anyplace is a good place to worship Maa! best regards, sadhvi
Guest guest
Namaskar Sadvi, No, I wasn't fortunate enough to go with Shree Maa and Swamiji to India. Benares is a magical place. I had many intense experiences there, especially at night in the cremation grounds. So much there. So much history. Known as a Shiva city, but I felt right away that Maa was everywhere there. She was the secret undercurrent of the place. So many times I would meander down some off the path alley and there would be an awesome murti of Maa.. When I read the story of Sudarsana and Sasikala in Swamiji's book, "Swami Purana", I learned why I felt that way. Divine Mother promised never to leave Kasi, and that was definitely my experience. You didn't really answer the question I posed about going inside. Maybe you don't want to comment. Jai Maa! Surya - nityashakti Thursday, May 25, 2006 9:59 AM RE: picture show >>"Namaste Sadvi, OK. Guest guest
Namaste Swamiji, A while back a man named Gobinder Chopra asked for your comments on the Indrakshi Stotram and its significance. I believe you commented that you thought he was referring to Chap 4 of the Chandi Path, but I believe he was referring to a different stotram attributed to Sri Purandara Rishi. Here is one place to find it http://www.indiadivine.org/hinduism/articles/213/1/Indrakshi-Stotram I would love to hear your comments on it. I have just heard a different recording of it and it is quite beautiful. Koti Pranams, Surya
