Guest guest
Dear Sriman Srinivasan : Thanks very much for your good wishes . I deeply appreciate them . I hope you do not mi my copying the list on my response to Your question .Other Members might be interested and may add their inputs to your question . Vidaay means longing , thirst . Aarthi means suffering . Viday means answer and farewell . We are better off in using the Farewell concept here . After the long Uthsavam , Our Lord blesses His BhakthAs and bids farewell until nex ttime . Our Lord blesses His devotees , who came to attend His Uthsavam and wishes them farewell .This is one intrepretation . VidAi Aarthi or VidAyEtthi Uthsavam coming at the end of BrahmOthsavam , KalyANothsavam at Opiliappan KOil is held for one day . PerumAL goes thru a lot of "stress and strain " during these Uthsavams to dress up and get ready at all hours and stays late outside enjoying Himself and blessing His dear devotees . He gets "tired " . He needs to rest a little and celebrate at the end , bid farewell to the assembled BhakthAs .This is the folksy intrepretation . In temple culture , where a lot of intense efforts goes in to preparation for conductance of PuRappAdu & UpachArams , a day after is reserved for thankful reflection by Devotees that every thing concluded well . At my birth place , KalyANOthsavam isn Iyppasi is a big uthsavam . at the end , there is a VidAyEtthi dinam , when our family has a MuRai ( maNdakappadi) to perform Thirumanjanam for Moolavar and Paadha Thirumanjanam ofr Uthsavar . The Thirumanjana Kattiyam presented by adiyEn to Oppiliappan is housed in the Oppiliappan Web pages . You might enjoy referencing to it since it refers to the strain caused to the Lord and for Him to have VidAyERRI Thirumanjanam ( http://www.oppiliappan.org) Avabrutha SnAnam at the end of the Uthsavam is very much sanctioned by AagamAs . Uthsavams are like Yaj~nams . Avabrutha SnAnam is for Vrathees and participants to perform avabrutha SnAnam in PushkaraNis or Rivers near by ( NaattAn VaaikkAl or DakshiNa viraja at Oppiliappan Koil ) , wehre ChakkaratthAzhwAn represents the Lord as His sankalpa Sakthi . I will write about the Aagamic significance later .
