Guest guest
Yes, this is the classic story. > Prabhu, I can remember this one incident in Mayapur where Srila Prabhupada > saw the children fighting with the dogs to eat left-over prasada and then > stating that he wanted all temples to organize prasad distribution and > that no one around 10 km should go hungry. I remember reading from the > Lilamrta this. That incident clearly seems to be directed to feeding the > hungry. I am sure he is. I guess what disturbs me is that everytime there is an emergency relief effort a certain group of devotees want to philosophize about whether we should do anything about it. Meanwhile, people are dying. I agree, prasadam is for everyone, not just the poor, and this has been my position all along. Prabhupada said, "Everyone should get a chance to take prasada..." (Cc 4.93) And that means, somehow or other we have to figure out ways to give people prasadam. If the need is there, why not "cater" to it? I am sorry if I offended anyone, but I get worked up when people question the validity of Hare Krishna Food for Life. Your servant, Priyavrata das > I know Ananda Tirtha Prabhu and I know that he is not at all insensitive. > I guess his point is not that we should not distribute prasada outside of > the temple, but that prasad distribution should not be targetted towards > the needy. In other words, his point is that there should not be > discriminate prasad distribution, but that it should be indiscriminate. > > Your servant, > Vidvan-Gauranga Das
