Guest guest
There is saying that if someone is hungry, it is difficult to preach to him. First the stomach must be full, then people can hear the message of the Lord and chant the holy name. Tears came on Srila Prabhupada's eyes in Mayapura when he saw small children fighting with dogs to get food. And that was the beginning of Food for Life Program in ISKCON. Reaching out to the underpriviledge in the form of prasad distribution is welfare work that will eventually translate into actual preaching of Krishna consciousness. Though we are not interested in mundane welfare work, but food for life distribution is not the same category as mundane welfare work. The problem we have today is people often exploit this. People exploit food for life program by raising lots of money that are meant for distribution of food to the poor, but instead use it for their own gratification.
