Dear devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Sri Ram Prabhu spent the first three days after his operation in apparent

unconsciousness, then slowly he was able to recognise his wife, Narayani

Mataji, and then others who went to visit him. It is obvious that diabetes

has taken a significant toll on his health and he is taking longer than

would be normal for other people to respond to medication. However as an

observer, it appears that he is making steady incremental progress day by

day. Yesterday the doctors had him stand up for a brief while and then sit

on a chair and make other movements. Today I was able to speak with him for

the first time since he was admitted to hospital. It is not clear when he

will be out of the intensive care unit or declared out of danger, but

perhaps by Krishna's mercy and all your prayers it wont be long. Narayani

Mataji spends almost all of her time by his side, except for sleeping which

she has to go home for. She is extremely grateful for all the prayers and

pujas of all the devotees worldwide and humbly begs you all to continue in

the same way.

Sri Ram Prabhu joined ISKCON in 1974 at the age of 19 boarding the

RadhaDamodar travelling party. He became involved in ISKCON education taking

over as minister of education from the chaos left by Jagadish. Sri Ram was a

pioneer in the field of uncovering the dark reality of widespread

child-abuse within ISKCON's education system and worked hard to create

awareness within ISCKON for taking action to eliminate the perpetrators of

this evil. Later he was involved with the European BBT and some of ISKCONs

legal issues. In recent days he has been an enthusiastic member of the

fledgeling preaching center that begun here last year in Sacramento, CA. His

lucid and articulate explanations of Vaishnava philosophy to the

congregation reveal the depth of his realization and his devotion to Srila

Prabhupada's mission.

A humble request for help:

Sri Ram Prabhu became disabled due to diabetes a few years ago and lives

with Narayani on SSI, a US government welfare program which barely covers

their monthly rental. Like most devotees who have spent a lifetime serving

in ISKCON they have no savings or retirement plan. Narayani mataji is a

physical therapist and up till now has been supplementing their income by

part-time work in that field besides caring for her husband. Now that extra

income has stopped while SriRam is in hospital. Here in Sacramento my wife

and I are appealing to our small congreation to pitch in to help Narayani

manage the bills for just one month until she is free to start work again.

Narayani asked me to write to SriRam's God-brothers and God-sisters

worldwide requesting if they can also render help by contributing something

to help them through this hard time. Since they are under the SSI program

they are not to record any extra income in the bank. Therefore, if you would

like to help them please send any contribution to me in my name and I

guarantee that it will reach them. Our goal is to raise about $1000. My

karmi name and address as follows:

John F Hamersley

925 Dondra Way

Sacramento, CA 95838

USA

Any check or money order you send I will cash and pass on to them, same with

cash.

Thank you for your help, hoping this meets you well

Your servant, Paradhyeya Das
