In the vacuum while waiting for Amoghalila prabhus answer may I venture to speculate? The USA is very keen to ensure that oil flows freely to allow their economy to flourish. It was clear that the gulf war was all about securing oil supply. America wants oil and wants it bad, as one banner to encourage the troops going to Kuwait said 'kick their ass and get their gas'. So if Pakistan has this much treasured oil pipeline, the US will conceivably do anything to defend it. So if India does go to war with Pakistan, the US could conceivably back Pakistan instead of India, and things could get nasty. Of course what that means to us is another question. Guest guest
Dear Samba Prabhu, Amoghalila Prabhu and other conspiracy theory advocates, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. > It was clear that the gulf war was all about securing oil > supply. Is it? I don't buy it. Looks to me like just another foolish conspiracy theory that, for reasons that elude me, some of our devotees seem inclined to be taken in by. This war was not about securing oil supply. This war was about getting the guy that knocked down the world trade center out of the blue. Of course, add to that the whole world hated the Taliban for knocking down the Buddha statues, promoting Heroine production, etc., and you've got a lot of support for going in and ousting the guys. > America wants oil and wants it bad, as one banner to encourage the > troops going to Kuwait said 'kick their ass and get their gas'. I see. So that proves it. Conspiracy. Must be. Besides, you seem to believe it, so why not the whole world? It was a CIA plot. Crash the planes into the WTC, get the oil out of Afganistan. Makes perfect sense. > So if Pakistan has this much treasured oil pipeline, the US will conceivably > do anything to defend it. So if India does go to war with Pakistan, the US > could conceivably back Pakistan instead of India, and things could get > nasty. Please. "could conceivablyif" and you begin the whole conclusion of this wonderful diatribe with the word "So" ... meaning your conclusion is based on your rock solid belief about that pipe line conspiracy theory. And all of this is based on the idea, unspoken, that Prabhupada said a world war would start between Pakistan and India, and that the US would back Pakistan and the Soviet Union (which by the way doesn't exist anymore) would back India, and It would quickly escalate to be a war between America and the Soviet Union. Here's the reality. There is no Soviet Union. Prabhupada said the war could be averted by book distribution. The war that Prabhupada spoke about won't happen because there is no Soviet Union anymore. America will not bomb the Soviets. The Soviets will not bomb America. The war that Prabhupada predicted has long ago been averted. There will, of course, be many wars. Prabhupada said war was the result of wholesale animal slaughter. (I have all the quotes to back up my evidence, by the way). Animal slaughter is still going on. So there will be other wars. But rest assured, if India and Pakistan have a nuclear war, which I personally think is unlikely - but they will continue fighting as they have for 40 years - no major superpower will back either country. Sleep well. Chant your rounds. Worry about terrorist dirty bombs going off in NYC, or some other big terrorist events. That's something that may indeed happen. > Of course what that means to us is another question. Right.
