Through the ages Krsna's Vedic culture has had to face many enemies and

hence those who are loyal to Krsna learn how to defend it by studying the

enemy and being informed of their arguments. In previous times there were

threats from Buddhists and Mayavadis. In more modern times there was the

threat of communism, but other threats such as Darwinism and that posed by

Indologists who give a perverse slant to Vedic studies still exist. Even

closer temporally is the problem of Rtvikism. But perhaps the greatest

threat that Krsna's Vedic culture and the rest of the world for that matter

faces is that of feminism. As I wrote in a previous text:

 

"We have to ask ourselves this question because, aside from religious

affiliation and tradition, us Vaishnavas from the Western countries have

a lot in common with Westerners in general: education, secular,

political, economic and social world views, social history, and language

among other things. With so much in common, we can safely presume that

if confronted with similar issues we will respond to them in similar ways.

 

So we should keep an eye on the culture war taking place among the

non-devotees in the West so we can get a better idea of what works, what

doesn't and why."

 

So just as previous devotees became familiar with Buddhism and Mayavada to

defeat it. And how Srila Prabhupada would drill Harikesa x-Swami in how to

defeat communism (as well as general devotees in how to defeat mayavada

Darwinism). And we are trained in how to tackle Darwinism, Indology,

Rtvikism, etc similarly we should become aware of the issues and arguments

surrounding feminism so that we understand it and know how to defeat it

philosophically.

 

You of all people should know how much of a problem feminism is in ISKCON.

Its leading proponents like Ekstrand have launched insidious assaults on

Srila Prabhupada, Krsna's Vedic culture, the sastras, etc in order to

undermine any obstacle to their introduction of the feminist agenda into

ISKCON. Unlike Rtvikism, feminism has many adherents in ISKCON even at the

highest levels.
