best option for getting the victims of Sri Lanka hot fresh meals daily, and

for taking care of orphaned children.

"All the donations (rations) given via the government and other

organizations are taken by the GA (Government agents) which they will

distribute to the affected people in the country. All the donations

(internet, or any other organisation... etc) in Sri Lanka are given to the

GA.

IT has however been informed that the GA is really slow and haven't supplied

it yet except for a few people in the places which they repeatedly show on

TV. The rest of the people are starving on the land and the donations in the

GA will not go to the people on time. Even then, only the dry rations are

been given and the victims are complaining that this is also no use because

they don't have facilities to cook.

 

So the food for life project by ISKCON (Sri Lanka) should provide a minimum

of at least ten thousand plate per day or it will be insufficient for the

victims.

 

ISKCON is the only movement which is independently providing cooked food

directly to the victims in Sri Lanka. Many people are appreciating this

service and are willing to donate to ISKCON instead. So if you could help it

would be great."

 

Further progress: In 1999 ISKCON had started Bhaktivedanta CHIldren's Home -

Gokulam (Orphanage) which is situated in 607A, Negombo Road, Mabola,

Wattala, Sri Lanka, this orphanage was started with 23 children from at the

Radha Krishna Temple, 188, New Chetty St, Colombo 13, Sri Lanka. By seeing

the plight of these children, one philanthropist lady donated a land and

with the help of many other donors buildings were put up and now, there are

After the tsunami, there are thousands of orphaned children in the Sri

Lanka. Now we are taking actions to get in some of the tsunami affected

children and provide them with food, education, medical and other

requirements. These children will definitely need medical help both

psychologically and physically. If possible, you could send some materials

which could be used for this purpose. You could give other things also like

milk powder, clothes etc.
