Guest guest
Dear GBC members, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. A GBC member forwarded me the following clip from a message Trivikrama Swami forwarded into this conference. The original message was written by Chandra dasa. I would like to comment upon it. Internet: Chandra Dasa <c_dasa (AT) hotmail (DOT) com> 01-Aug-99 14:24 +0200 india.open (AT) bbt (DOT) se Chakra News [324] ISKCON UK Promotes Narayana Maharaja --------------------------- Dear Prabhus, Hare Krsna. PAMHO. AG 2 SP. In an amazing about turn, the temple authorities at Bhaktivedanta Manor have facilitated HH Narayana Maharaja, on his current UK tour. ---- end of clip ----- This is a highly inaccurate statement. The following message, which I wrote to Sivarama Swami about the incident, more accurately explains the situation: Letter COM:2468484 (45 lines) Vipramukhya Swami 13-Jul-99 11:09 Sivarama Swami Reference: Text COM:2466092 by Sivarama Swami One for You. --------------------------- Dear Sivarama Maharaja, it is true that I told Anandini that there was no ban on Narayana Maharaja visiting ISKCON temples, but he was not allowed to speak at ISKCON temples unless it was cleared by the GBC and that I did not have the authority to authorise that. There was no formal request from anyone on their side that he be allowed to visit, and my conversation with Anandini was hardly an invitiation to Narayana Maharaja. I was, in fact, in the process of asking her to leave the temple premises at the time. I found her preaching on a Sunday and inviting guests to see Narayana Maharaja. One of the persons she spoke to, a bhakta here for 7 months, defected to Narayan Maharaja the next day. So the conversation with Anandini was hardly on friendly terms, and ended rather abruptly and awkwardly when she turned and walked off the property on my request. Narayana Maharaja barged in with his followers having a kirtan during our own guru-puja to Srila Prabhupada and created a disturbance. He then went to Srila Prabhupada's quarters and sat down and spoke for 20 minutes, despite whatever I had said to Anandini.
