Guest guest
Dear Vaisnavas, Hare Krsna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada. I think the problem of ISKCON Vrindavana TSKP distributing Marathi books in Maharashtra along with other extra paraphernalia is basically a organizational problem of ISKCON. I personally feel that it is not a problem from the BBT's side. Because again my personal opinion is that officially speaking it may not be appropriate for BBT Mumbai to refuse the supply Marathi books to ISKCON Vrindavana if they say that they require the books to distribute them to the Maharashtrians coming to Vrindavana or Delhi or in MP or something like that. Ofcourse BBT Mumbai's main customers for Marathi Gitas is ISKCON Juhu. But then everytime the BBT supplies books to temples it has to start discriminating on what language books to supply and what not to supply. This is completely impratical. The solution should come from ISKCON's side. The most important step which has to be taken which is the much-required solution to prevent furthur chaos is that at an ICC meeting of the TP's or preferably at a separate meeting called for the specific purpose of organizing & increasing the book distribution in India, it has to be discussed and finalized about the specific areas for book distribution in India for each of the different temples as per their strength (no. of TSKP's) and capacity to do so. And this should be strictly adhered to. In my humble opinion this is very much required and is long due. In this way the temples also know which areas are under their purview for book distribution and they can be held directly responsible if there is a lack of book distribution in those areas. And this arrangement will help the temples to decide the schedules of their TSKP's in advance and there will no conflict whatsoever. If a TSKP wants to distribute in other areas (maybe one in a while) then it can do so by prior consultation with temple authorities there Or if a TSKP is feeling that the area allotted to them is insufficient then they can raise it at the next meeting and it can be discussed & solved. In a particular state where the temples have no TSKP's, TSKP's from nearby ISKCON temples can visit at particular periods of the year and sell books in coordination with the local temples keeping the same prices etc. Also another point has to be discussed what to sell on the TSKP buses and what not to sell. Otherwise there is no end to what we can sell just because we have to maintain the buses and also because in India the people just lap up everything. Standardizing the book prices can also be discussed at such a meeting so that a person can get the same book at the same price anywhere in India. Increasing set distribution in India can also be a part of the agenda. This is necessary now because temples prefer an easy way for making life members at Rs.14,444 without giving the members the Bhagavatam set. This has lead to a decrease in the sale of the sets. Prabhupada said that set distribution revolutionizes our book distribution. Training the sankirtan devotees and holding book distribution seminars all over India can also be part of the agenda. I think that half yearly or yearly book distribution festivals in India will go a long way in resolving all problems and rejuvenating book distribution in India. A committee like ISKCON India Book Distribution Committee BDC can be formed which can hold these sankirtan festivals. LET'S DO IT, NOW! These are my two pennies worth. Thank you for bearing with me while reading this message. Kindly give your valuable comments. Your servant, Nayana-ranjana Dasa
