Guest guest
>I do not know why KK prabhu has missed such a simple & basic principle of >Krsna consciousness and is giving arguments against this principle. The >principle is that the potency of the Holy Name depends on the level of >purity & realization of the chanter. There are hundreds of quotes of Srila >Prabhupada on this. > You ask, "I do not know why. . .", etc. "Hundreds of quotes?" What you may be interpreting as a "quote" that supports your opinion, is not necessarily so. yathagadas viryatamam upayuktas yadrcchaya ajanato ’py atma-gunas kuryan mantro ’py udahrtah "If a person unaware of the effective potency of a certain medicine takes that medicine or is forced to take it, it will act even without his knowledge because its potency does not depend on the patient’s understanding. Similarly, even though one does not know the value of chanting the holy name of the Lord, if one chants knowingly or unknowingly, the chanting will be very effective." (SB 6.2.19) [from the purport] "One may or may not know the value of chanting the Hare Krsna mantra, but if one somehow or other chants it, he will immediately be purified, just as one who takes a potent medicine will feel its effects, regardless of whether he takes it knowingly or unknowingly." Of course, we do not deny that hearing the chanting of a great soul is efficacious, but at the same time, Krishna is also independent, and He can act as he pleases: Prabhupada: A wild boar. So when the boar attacked him the Musselmans, when they do not like they say, “Haram. Haram.” Condemn means haram. So when the boar attacked him he said haram. “Haram!” But it acted, ha räma, and he got salvation. Do you follow what I say? A Mussulman said, ’ha ram. Ha ram He condemned. It is abominable. That is the meaning of Urdu, haram. But at the time of death, when the boar attacked him, he said, “Haram.” So it acted ha rama. Ha, he räma. It acted, chanting the name of Rama, Hare Rama. He meant something else, but it acted as beneficial as chanting He rama. So therefore this Hare Krsna mantra, either you chant seriously, or those who are criticizing us, jokingly, the effect will be same. So anyway let them chant Hare Krsna. Do you follow? Even they do not take it seriously, if they imitate, joke, still they’ll be benefited . (Conversation, August 15, 1971, London) If the Musselman did not get the holy name from the lips of a pure devotee, then how did he get liberation? Conclusion, Krishna is independent, sva-rat. Even though sometimes Krishna was bound by the love of his great devotees to stay with them, He also acted independently, too, and left them against their wishes. Similarly, the holy name may be bound to manifest from his pure devotees, but Krishna's holy names, being identical with Krishna Himself, can also act independently.
