Guest guest
>When Srila Prabhupada says, "The sastra is the center of all," I take that >to heart. What is the reference for this quote? What does "all" refer to? Based on what you write below, chances are this statement would have to be considered to be merely Prabhupada's opinion, unless he was quoting from sastra, right? >And since my guru maharaja's comment was not accompanied by >evidence, even though the comment is from him, his opinion on the matter >cannot yet be considered conclusive... > >Personally, I'm not prepared to accept a conclusion if it is obviously in >contravention of scriptural authority, even if that conclusion comes from my >initiating guru. With all due respect, Krsna Kirti Prabhu, do you apply to your own writing the same standard you demand form your initiating guru? If you do, could you perhaps provide evidence for your following statements? (Or, if you prefer, you can just leave them out there as your opinion.) >When Srila Prabhupada says "sastra is the center of all", >he is not saying "guru" is the center of all. That is my firm conviction, >it is also Srila Prabhupada's order, and, yes, my guru maharaja has also >instructed us to do like this. In what classes or personal letters to you or personal conversations with you did Hridayananda Maharaja say that "sastra is the center of all"? (And what is "all" anyway?) As an anecdotic aside I may add that I was given first initiation by Hridayananda Maharaja in 1979 and in all these years I never heard him affirming that "sastra is the center of all". I must have been missing that point for 20 years.... One thing I do remember, though, is that in the course of these 20 years Hridayananda Maharaja, more than once, quoted the following verse from Vyasa's Mahabharata: tarko 'pratisthah srutayo vibhinna nasau munir yasya matam na bhinnam dharmasya tattvam nihitam guhayam mahajano yena gatah sa panthah "Logical argumentation has not foundation. The scriptures are divided. "He whose opinion is not different [from that of all other munis] is not an intellectual. "The truth (reality, essence) of dharma is hidden in a cave (the heart; it's esoteric). "The path is that by which great souls have gone" (my translation). your servant, Kunti dd

There would have been a much better way to go about what you attend to acheive if you had written in a much humbler way... But no, you have decided to approach the issue with all the arrogance at your command. Or so it seems. Why should Krishna Kirti Prabhu respond to a cynical challange? He is not obliged to do that. There is a way to question someone with humility. Better learn that and then put the question. To continue with such a discussion under duress is simply a waste of time; your's too.
