Well, isn't it fairly obvious what is happening. The GBC as a whole actually probably only has limited funds (most funds in ISKCON are under the control of individuals, mostly sannyasis). They had decided to allocate it to the gurukulis. Initially, it was to go to the CPC or whatever. A major lawsuit is imminent. Lawsuits must be responded to. To dip into the Kirtanananda well, a lawsuit was filed against him for 110 million or so, he didn't respond, now he has a default judgement filed against him. If ISKCON doesn't respond, they lose by default. so they must respond. To respond, costs money. Where would they get money? well, they would have to rebudget something already slated for something else. Those are pretty much the facts. Mental speculation - money previously allocated to CPC is now going to respond to the imminent lawsuit, without which, everything is lost. Everything is connected to everything else. Which brings us back to - if you are sympathetic to the CPC, don't wait for the GBC to do something, get your checkbook out because they are going to need your support.
